Our take
This is the most ambitious independent table in 1850 right now: a family hotel betting on a young chef, and it shows on the plate.
The story
Alpage sits inside the Hôtel Annapurna, which the Pinturault family has run since 1974. The family brought in chef Jean-Rémi Caillon, formerly of the two-starred Kintessence, in 2023.
The menu is written like a walk through high pastures, in five or seven courses, and it holds a Michelin star and three Écotable macarons for its sourcing. Gault&Millau rates it 16/20.
Best for
A special-occasion dinner for two in 1850.
Good to know
Dinner only, Wednesday to Sunday. A long evening: plan around three hours for the full menu.
